The Bitcoin Buy Risk Index focuses on valuation: is Bitcoin historically cheap or expensive right now? It blends on-chain metrics (MVRV Z-Score, NUPL, RHODL, aSOPR) with macro inputs (Spot ETF flows, global M2 growth, the yield curve) into on-chain and tech/macro subscores. The Fear & Greed Index is a sentiment gauge. It combines volatility, market momentum and volume, social media activity, Bitcoin dominance and search trends into a single 0–100 emotion reading. It is great for spotting when the crowd is euphoric or panicking — but sentiment can stay extreme for a long time and does not, by itself, tell you whether Bitcoin is fundamentally cheap or expensive. It is purpose-built for top-timing. The Bitcoin Buy Risk Index overlaps on several on-chain inputs but adds macro context and frames the result as overall buy risk rather than only top proximity.
